Survived by children, Jamie Kreiman (Ike Gavzy), Jennifer Kreiman (Jon Kachelmacher) and Michael Kreiman (Katie Liu); grandchildren, Sam Gavzy, Leah, Kari and Tom Kachelmacher; sisters-in-law and brothers-in- law, Joyce Levenson, Elaine and Edward Devitt, Ervin London (Shirley); adoring nieces and nephews and loving friend, Peggy Howe. Funeral service MONDAY (TODAY) 10:00 AM at BET SHALOM CONGREGATION, 13613 Orchard Rd., Mtka. Burial will follow in Duluth at Tifereth Israel Cemetery 2:30pm. Deceased Name: MELVIN KREIMAN

Melvin Kreiman, 77, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at home.

 

Born in Minneapolis, he had been a Duluth resident for most of his life. He was a pharmacy student at the University of Minnesota before joining the Army's 100th bombardment group in England during World War II as a medic. Upon his return, he joined his father at Kreiman's Book Store in Duluth. He owned and operated the bookstore from 1959 to 1974.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Pollack Kreiman and Michael Kreiman; and a sister, Shirley London.

 

Survivors include his wife, Beti Levenson Kreiman; a daughter, Jamie Kreiman and husband, Ike Gavzy and grandson, Sam; a daughter, Jennifer Kreiman and husband Jon Kachelmacher and grandchildren Leah, Kari and Thomas; a son, Michael Kreiman; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Ed Devitt; a brother-in-law, Erv London; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Service: 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Temple Israel, 1602 E. Second St. Burial in Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Shiva at 7 p.m. Monday at Opus Condominiums Meeting Room, 5645 Green Circle Drive, Minnetonka, Minn. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, 925 E. Fourth St., Duluth.
